Eastern Treasures

This is the first card made with the new cd from Joanna Sheen
This is a great cd and although it is oriental it's not the normal kind you think of and I think it will be a well loved one before long. Sorry the picture makes the card look a bit distorted but it is an 8 inch square, which is quite usual for me these days as I seem to have fallen in love with this size. I'm halfway through another one of the decoupage designs so will pop that one on once it's finished.

More from the retreat

This is the box I made it is stippled with pink and purple the stamped with the flowers and pots from a range from Stamp Addicts, I am really impressed with these stamps so think I need to get some of them.

This is what is inside the box, stupidly I put the best wishes on a too low so it is partially hidden but as the shutters are not glued down I can get away with it I think. The flowers in the window box are stamped onto acetate and coloured with alcohol inks using the new pens that you fill with the ink. I don't think it's very clear but inside is a scruffy cat looking out of the window.

Another one from the Stamp Addicts Retreat

We made these shadow boxes and had a bit of fun, sorry it's a bit fuzzy but you can get the idea. We painted the frame with back paint then used some mosaic tape to make the surround which we stuck bits of card that had been stamped and swooshed through some mica paints which are fab and some beads, glitter and sparkly rocks. We stamped an imaged which in my case is some writing for the background recess, made the kimono and put it all together.

I'll show you some cards very soon.

STAMP ADDICTS RETREAT

We had the most wonderful fun last weekend at the Stamp Addicts Retreat, plenty of things to play with and things we've never seen before and therefore most definately need.

They started us off with this great canvas bag which we painted using templates and the birds and flowers were cut on the Cuttlebug and painted and stamped over.

The tag was done on glossy card using alcohol iks with a piece of acetate stamped and painted on the back with more alcohol inks and a piece of acylic on the top, the flower is grunge paper painted and stamped then glued together.

I'll be back later in the week to add a few more thing that got done, which include a shadow box, some cards and well you'll just have to wait and see.

Hello Baby

First we've had weddings and now we have another girl having a baby, I have done this baby card in an 8inch square again as it is a big card but not going to get bent in the post. The images come from the Baby Love cd from Joanna Sheen and the extra bits were some I had in my stash. As it's a special card I have used some tapestry card as a mat just to give it a little something extra.

Saturday, 30 May 2009

It's been so long since I put anything on here you could all be forgiven for thinking I'd given up! Well too many times I have made something and let it go just to realise there wasn't a picture of it so with this little one I made sure to photograph it.
We have a couple of weddings in the office this month, I guess it must be the time of year and the above card is one I made for one of the girls. I have used the fans cd from Joanna Sheen and having seen so many already done from this image I guess it is very popular, I have done the fan to put on the box lid but have only used one of the images flat on the card but then I have decoupaged both the glasses and the flowers. The inside is just the backing paper printed off with a little less ink and then a verse put on top, my printer had been playing silly devils so I had just over half an image of the flowers left so thought it went well on the corner inside. I have put some gold tissue in the box just to make it look a little less bare. I just hope she likes it, it is 8" x 9" so all our department can sign it and I even got a comment from the boss - says I'm wasted there. Not sure if it was a compliment or maybe he's trying to get rid of me!

Rainbow Lady's challenge this week is B is for, well I have gone for the obvious one and for me it's birthday! This done with some cardstock that I got from Kanban a long time ago and the letters are from the new My Craft Studio cd's which arrived from C&C in very good time.

There is a new challenge blog which has been set up by Frankie, now I don't normally do tags but thought I'd try to support her and have a go so this is my effort. I do hope you will go and have a look and join in you'll find her blog here this week is a pre-challenge week and the theme is blossom.

Cynthia's Challenge Spot

Ok folks long time no see, I've been totally rubbish and have been busy so haven't been here keeping you all up to date.

Well this week I am being guest designer for Rainbow Lady's Challenge, I'd really love it if you could join in. I have chosen transport as the theme and here is my offering
I hope you'll go over and look at the challenge which you'll find it here

Saturday, 28 March 2009

Well I've been really bad about putting things on here for you all to look at but I have still been busy, I am making some wedding invitations for my friend as her present. I did her six samples and this is the one she has chosen, I am really pleased with the way they have turned out and also the little favour bags which were cut on the Cricut using a free download from Dan who seems to have stopped blogging at the moment.

I hope to be able to put some more things on in the next few days so watch this space and thanks for dropping by.

I've been very poor at updating my blog but have been a little busy, only made cards that have been ordered or for birthdays, not been adding to my box as I've been busy taking photographs for the course I'm doing, check out the web site http://www.feelgoodphotos.co.uk/blog/

CJ is a great teacher and is so inpiring that if she does another of these courses you should give it a go. The picture above is one of my first efforts and has the honour of being in the final four images of the week.

This is my entry for the Cute Card Thursday challenge to use something metal or metallic. It's my great niece's birthday on Monday so I've made this for her, she will be seven so I've used the cuttlebug numbers embossing folder and highlighted the seven in glitter. I have tied a piece of ribbon bought very cheaply form the QVC outlet shop and fastened a fairy to it, I then placed Tinkerbell to look as though she is sprinkling the glitter. Finally I have put her name at the bottom with Basic Grey Sultry stickers

Rainbow Lady's Challenge

I seem to be on a roll this weekend, here is my card for Rainbow Lady's Challenge - windows
I need a card for our newest recruit in work, she is 24 and very tall and slim so thought these images worked for her.

Colour Create Challenge #1

A new challenge blog has given us a challenge to do a card in brown, pink and green and this what I've come up with. No greeting on it just yet as I'm not sure who will get it, I've enjoyed doing this one and if you fancy a go have a look here

The backing papers are basic grey and the flowers came from Joanna Sheen, I bought the papers from Docrafts in the sale so don't feel bad about using them. I usually just buy them and look at them now and again.

Saturday, 31 January 2009

I've made this for the Basic Grey Challenge follow the sketch, you have to use at least one item from Basic Grey in your project. I have got this more than covered as everything apart from the black mats and base card are from this range.
The papers are all from the Boxer pack with the exception of the pink I have stamped onto which is Strawberry Smoothie from Two Scoops. The stamps are also Basic Grey and I have used Adirondak ink to stamp them with, this totally different to my usual kind of card but I am quite happy with it so thanks ladies for the challenge.

I've been tagged twice today so I'm putting my picture on now before I get a collection!

The picture has to come from the 6th folder and be the 6th picture.

This as you can see is a very old and battered picture of my mum, she is the toddler in the hat. We are trying to improve some of the old pictures so we can do an album with them.

I'm not sure who to tag as I guess most people have already been 'done', I'll have a think and come back to you.

Right I've thought and here goes,

Jane

Sandie

If I think of anyone else I'll let you know

An award from Jane

An award has been given to me by Jane thanks Jane, I'm not sure who to pass this onto but while I think about it I have to list things I'm addicted too.

Buying craft stash even if I never use it.

My two lovely dogs.

The fantastic curry that David makes.

A couple of glasses of wine on a Friday

Right now to pass this on, this is going to the following because I am either inspired, amazed or both by what these lovely people do and the help they so freely give.

Thanks ladies hope you enjoy your award.

My something new this week is the new cd from Joanna Sheen it's called Cottage Garden and has some great things on it.

Hope you like what I have come up with, by the way they are looking for a guest designer over on their blog so go and have a look and if you fancy having a try leave a comment.

Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy New Year and hope the coming year is kind to you. I love coming along and visiting all your blogs and pinching ideas from them :-) hopefully this will be a two way thing if I ever have any ideas worth passing on to you - help yourself!

I've been quite remiss about putting things on here you could have been forgiven for thinking I'd forgotten how. I have had these rabbit stamps for a while now but not used them so thought as I have so many birthdays in January I'd make a start, she is stamped in VintageSepia Versafine and watercoloured with Lyra Aquacolor, the bottom border is done with a corner punch with the wings taken off. I saw this idea on another blog and was quite taken with it, you can see the other things the person who inspired me does here mind you my creations don't hold a candle to her work but I keep trying.

Getting near to the end of my christmas cards now, this is for a friends mum. The image is off the Pamela West cd from Joanna Sheen and the ivy leaves have been cut on my Cricut from a file made by Dan I have used Jones Tones paint for the berries and the corners are cuttlebug. The image is highlighted with Stickles in Stardust.

Sunday, 7 December 2008

Made this from the new Strictly Card Dancers cd for my friends birthday, the background is cut on my Cricut using the Storybook cart. Although I have cut it in gold I think it would look good in black too so may have a bit of a play and see what I come up with.

Back from Holiday and into more crafting.

Made this for a workmate who announced his engagement yesterday after a week off work. It isn't anywhere near as pink as the picture but the flash seems to have changed it's colour.

Friday, 19 September 2008

Sorry not been around much and not really been doing much in the crafting depatment. I needed these cards for a friend so got going and am quite happy with the results.

Will be on holiday next week so a good opportunity to get some pics taken and more scrapbooking done when I get back.

Thursday, 4 September 2008

This weeks challenge is to use a Bee Gees song title, something red, a bit of bling some ribbon and buttons. This is my interpretation, I didn't realise the llist of songs that they had written!

Monday, 25 August 2008

Another scrapbook page for another challenge, this one had to have a royal connection amongst other things so this is the best I could do.

Saturday, 23 August 2008

Joined in a challenge for a scrapbook page and this is what I've come up with. It's a bit bright for me really but had the papers and decided to give it a go, hope to do more in the near future as I have tons of pics to sort through.

Wednesday, 13 August 2008

Here is a card made for an ex workmate who is getting married at the end of the month, sorry I can't take credit for the basic idea but I can for the way I've adapted it.

Here's my offering for this weeks challenge from Rainbow Lady, check it out http://rainbowladyschallengeblog.blogspot.com/ this weeks challenge was spots and stripes with a little extra. Hope you like it.

Monday, 4 August 2008

I've had my Cricut for a few weeks now but haven't really made anything with it, just been playing to see what it will do and I have to say I think it will become something I will use a lot.

I decided to see how this flower would turn out and while it's not 100% it is quite good I think, I cut it out in white card and then painted it with The Stamp Connection pearlescent powder paints, mounted it onto black and used a little piece of oriental paper that came in a kit from C&C quite some time ago.

Sunday, 3 August 2008

I've been very poor about posting anything on my blog and the cards I have made have gone out without me taking a photo. Well I have got sorted after a fashion and thought I'd give Rainbow Lady's swirls challenge a go so here is my offering. You can find the challenge at http://rainbowladyschallengeblog.blogspot.com/ . I stamped the swirl pattern over a plain white card then painted the card with some pearlesent powder paints in pale gold, highlighted some of the swirls with the same paint but in red and then popped a chipboard tag again painted with the same paint and stamped with a pretty flower stamp.
Hope you like it.
