Bah! Humbug! - Text

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week the ladies want us to use text, this card is using some text panels from a HOTP booklet I have had for a few years. There is a main image and then a smaller one for the inside of the card, I have used a black card with silver embossed snowflakes that came from a visit to Kanban a year or two ago, the panels are softened with chalks and layered onto glitter card.
I like the look of the glitter card but it is a pig to get anything to stick to, I have used pinflair but you can see it a little through the paper so this will have to go to someone who's a bit shortsighted, lol or maybe I need a diecut snowflake to cover it. I added the silver ribbon to finish it off which is another purchase from a while ago, in fact I think it came with something else
but is wire edged so not good for tying into bows.

CD Sunday - Stamp on your cd

Good morning all and as it's Sunday it's time for a new challenge over on CD Sunday, this week we're asking you to stamp on your cd. No I don't mean jump up and down on it, just use a stamp with it, now this can be any theme you like and any type of stamp. I have made the stamp the main part of the card but you could just use a sentiment or something small, anything goes with this one really.
This week the backing paper has come from the Artylicious cd Decadent Brocade, all the papers I have used have been inked using distress inks, the colours I have used are Wild Honey and Bundled Sage. The stamps are from a sheet from Graphicus and it has some great birds on it most I've never really used.
I am also entering this into some other challenges this week and they are
Southern Girls - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - A Tweet and a Flutter!
The Stamp Man - Distress
Taylored Expressions - Sketch
Daring Card Makers -things that fly, flutter or hover in the sky
Alphabet - U unused stash
ABC Challenge - D is for Distressing
I do hope you'll come over and join in with us, I'm looking forward to seeing your creations.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge 35 Favourite medium
Well as the girls over on Bah! Humbug! are being so very generous this week and letting us choose our favourite medium I thought I'd give it a go,well it would be rude not to, after all I missed last week.
I have chosen to use rubber stamps and promarkers as my favourite, the rubber stamp is called Cool Ride and I won this a part of some blog candy earlier in the year but have never used it, apart from stamping it out to see how it looked. I printed the backing paper then sprayed it with spray and sparkle I then matted this onto red silk mirri card, I coloured some white ribbon with a marsh green promarker which I wrapped around two edges of the patterned paper mat.
I stamped the horse in versafine imperial purple as I prefer this to black as I find it gives a slightly softer image, the horse was coloured with yes you've guessed it promarkers and then I used some stickles glitter glue for the fur trim and snowflakes, the colour of the stickles is Star Dust.
I coloured some clear gems with the same gold promarker that I coloured the pole and trim on the coat and then finished it off with a light dusting of Bundled Sage distress ink around the edges. Yet another card for the Christmas box so hopefully there won't be any panic for me this year.

CD Sunday - Sponsored Challenge
We think that the challenge is an easy one for you all and as the prize is an animal cd we want you to use animals in you project this week.
I do hope you will join us over on CD Sunday and hopefully you will be inspired by the fab creations of the design team.
My card this week is from Joanna Sheen's Jayne Netley Mayhew cd, I have used an A4 card and scored it twice at a suitable place either side to make a card similar to a gatefold but not joining, I then used my MS punch to do a border on each side and then put the backing paper and the topper inside, the words are from a very old song but seemed to fit, once the everything was in place I cut a piece of acetate slightly bigger than the back of the card and stuck this to the inside of the two front pieces this is what helps the card to stand.
I hope to see you all over on the challenge blog and look forward to visiting you to see the wonderful things you have created. Don't forget to go over to Sharon's site for a browse around she has some great things on there and it's free postage! Just click on the logo to go to the site or on the cd cover to go straight to the cd details, I'm sure you'll be impressed.Sunday, 29 August 2010
Bah! Humbug! - Charms

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week they have asked us to use a charm, well looking in my stash I have quite a few charms but couldn't find anything christmassy. I was just about to give up when I remembered the sheets of images that I had hidden away in a drawer and decided that I would use one for this weeks challenge. I have used a charm of a goose so it ties in with the image.
I have made an easel card which is an A6 in size, I don't tend to use foam pads but with these stackers they are better to keep the images level, I had a root around and could only find a few so have only used half of the stackers leaving another four layers to use in another card.
CD Sunday - Jingle Bells

Hello all, here we are on another Sunday morning so that can only mean one thing, yes it's a fresh challenge over on the CD Sunday challenge blog, this week we are asking you to to use the theme jingle bells.
For my card I have used an old faithful cd from Joanna Sheen, Victorian Christmas. I have printed everything onto 160gsm paper from Staples and then sprayed it with spray and sparkle, I have matted both the backing paper and the topper onto silver mirri board and coloured a peel off in deep pink to match the bells. The snowflakes are cut with spellbinders dies out of a card I coloured with silkies, I just put some silkies onto my mat and swooshed the card through it.
I do hope you will join us this week and don't forget that we will be starting our monthly sponsored challenge next week so bookmark us so you don't forget.

Winter Wonderland for Bah! Humbug! Challenge 32

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week it's a winter wonderland and once again I am bringing up the rear. This week I have used an image from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Christmas, I have printed both the image and backing paper on to 160 gsm paper and then sprayed it with spray and sparkle but not sure if you can see it on this picture. I coloured some white ribbon with a red promarker and also some clear gems with a gold one.
The mats are red silk mirri card and it's all finished with a greeting from Kanban that I got a few years ago and still have sheets of.

CD Sunday - Wedding Aniversary

Good morning everyone, well yes it's Sunday again so that can only mean one thing, yes a new challenge over on CD Sunday, and thanks to all who joined in last week.
This week we want you to think wedding anniversary and as it was my anniversary yesterday this fitted in with me very well, I have used some black tapestry card which I am very protective over and only use it now and again for something or someone special. I have embossed some lines around the picture to make a frame, the picture is from
The Jayne Netley Mayhew Collection from Joanna Sheen and I have added a fancy stamped corner which I have embossed in gold and some black pearls on the other corners to balance it out, I took the picture into MCS and then added the words, I do like the feature that allows you to colour pick from part of the image so everything matches perfectly.
I do hope you will be able to join in with us this week and don't forget as long as something comes from a cd you can enter and it doens't have to be a card, with us anything goes.

Bah! Humbug! - Angels and fairies

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week the challenge is angels and fairies, now I was too late to put my card on last week and almost forgot to sort out this weeks so I've scanned them both together. The window one is from a Joanna Sheen cd and the fairy one is a Sarah Kay stamp that I could quite happily use for all my cards as I just love the image.
The second card is a double sided one and the front is cut in half from corner to corner, I have some acetate with seasons greetings across it so I stuck some of that on and popped my topper on. I may use some bits of holly on the back of the card but think it's fine as it is. I am looking forward to next month when I start doing my extra special cards, I don't like to get them done too early as I like to feel as if they were made as part of the christmas preparations and excitement.

CD Sunday - Buttons and Bows

Good morning all, yet another Sunday so it means we've got a new challenge for you over on CD Sunday, this week it's BUTTONS AND BOWS. As usual you can make anything you like and you can join in even if you have only used a simple element as long as something comes from a cd.
Please make sure you let us know which cd you have used and don't forget we have only got 3 weeks until our 1st sponsored challenge so dust off your cd's and lets see those entries.
This week I have used the MCS cd A taste of lavender and paper lace, I don't have the full version just the one that was offered for free on their web site I just had to pay the postage, unusualy for me I haven't played about with the image and just printed it off as it came, the two little flowers are from a bag of buttons I was given years ago and the bow is from a huge spool of white ribbon which I keep and usually colour to match my project.

Music and movement - CD Sunday

Good morning everyone and as it's Sunday it's time for another challenge from us over at CD Sunday, now last week you did us proud with more entries than we've had before so I do hope you'll join in again this week.
This week it's music and movement and the image above was one of the first things that came into my head, I love the little girl following the teacher. This image and the backing paper designed to go with it comes from the Joanna Sheen cd, A Card Makers Year. This cd is broken up into months so you will always find an image suitable for the time of year you are working in but like the above image they can be used at any time, if you want to use the image I've used you will find it in September.
We are getting closer to the start of our sponsored challenges and I have to say there are some very generous people out there so you will just have to keep watching and joining in with us, it's just a pity I can't enter! Hope you have fun with our challenge this week and I am looking forward to visiting all your blogs to see your wonderful creations and don't forget you don't need to use a lot from a cd to join in with us but if you use something small like an embellishment please give credit to the cd it comes from, thanks.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge #29 - Paper Tearing

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week the challenge is paper tearing, well I was almost going to pass on this one because I have been hoarding this paper and haven't managed to cut into it never mind tear it! I decided at the last minute that I'd give it a go so here is the result, the panel is one of the new embossing folders from Docrafts which a friend brought into work for me today, she picked them up at the weekend which was very good of her.
I have used some green ink dusted lightly over the panel and around the edge of the paper both of which are layered onto red silk mirri card, I coloured a white ribbon with promarkers and put it across two sides of the card and added a bit of bling but decided it needed something else and so found some flowers and thought this colour picks up the background a bit. I added some gems into the centre of the flower and fastened it onto the card with pinflair gel, the gems were plain but I coloured them with the promarkers too.

It's a girl!

I've been asked to do a new baby card and this is what I've come up with, the image is coloured with promarkers as is the mat and the words so they are all the same colour. I love this MS punch and use it quite a bit, I have used the same backing paper inside with the verse and baby details printed in pink onto white paper and again punched down the sides, just hope she likes it!
CD Sunday - Anything Goes

Good morning all, well it's Sunday so that means that over on CD Sunday we have a brand new challenge for you and this week we have decided that you should have an easy week cos it's anything goes. You can make anything you want and as long as it has something from a cd on it it qualifies, this week I've used an image from My Craft Studio, The Collectors Edition. I know some people don't get on with this range of cd's and to be honest when I first got mine I wasn't overly impresed but not one for buying things to just sit on the shelf I played about and now I have a whole range of them and find them really useful.
I've made the image by finding the table in one of the folders and then bringing in the bear who is drawn to look like she's sitting on something, I know that you can change the colour to anything you want but I just happened to have a sheet of Basic Grey paper with the pink and yellow in it so left it as is. I cut a couple of circles out on my Cricut and put them through the Cuttlebug then I spritzed them lightly with some silkies and to finish off I put some gems around the outer edges, rather that use the same colour I put the brown on one side and pink on the other, the dotty ribbon is from my stash.
I do hope you'll join in with us this week and don't forget we are getting closer to the start of our sponsored challenges so keep checking for more info!
I'm entering this into Sir Stampalot - Bring on the Bling

Just a bit of fun for the Bah! Humbug! challenge

Over on the Bah! Humbug! blog this week the challenge is a winter scene, well I couldn't find any stamps that would fit the bill and didn't want to use a cd so I decided to have a bit of fun and play with the Cricut.
I painted the sky with the silkies and tried to make it uneven so it looked like it was snowfilled (yes I know a vivid imagination is needed here), I then took some glitter card and tore it to create the snow. All of the elements are cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge, I have never used the dolls on this but all the extra elements are very useful. I cut everything from 160gsm paper and coloured it in, the trees, moon and sleigh have been coloured with silkies and the reindeer and present sack with promarkers, I have put a bit of extra glue under the reindeer and sleigh and popped on a bit of extra glitter to give them a bit of something to stand on so they were not just floating. This probably won't go anywhere but I just had a bit of fun making it.
CD Sunday - Meow

Hello all and as it's Sunday it means a new card and challenge from us all at
CD Sunday, this week is an easy one and we have just called it 'MEOW'.
I have used an image from Joanna Sheen's Jane Netley Mayhew Collection, I do like this cd as I can manage to find something for everyone on here, from the pretty like this image which is for a friend of mine to the big cats and other stuff you see on safari which makes great mens cards, (can you tell I'm a fan).
The image is backed matted onto a pale green card which is almost the same green as the colour in the background. Now the DP is from Basic Grey and I think it's so pretty it is part of the Euphoria collection and this one is elation. I have made a fancy band from my MS punches and the flowers were white but I coloured them with promarkers.
Hope you like my effort this week and you'll pop over to see us and join in, we love coming to your blogs and having a look what gems you produce.

Yet another Sweet Pea!

OK, I did a card yesterday for the Sweet Pea Stampers challenge and I mentioned I wasn't going to use pink but somehow that's how it turned out. Today I decided to do another one and this time used blue as the predominant colour. I put some of my blue silkies onto my craft mat and mixed a bit of water, I put this onto some paper and then used another blue and layered this on top. Once both these colours had made the paper wet enough I scrunched it up, dried it slightly and then laid it out and rubbed a little of the darker colour over the top.
I cut the frame behind the image out on the Cricut and layered this onto a piece of glossy card that I used the silkies on again but slightly different and although it doesn't really show in the picture it has a slight criss cross effect. The image is mostly done in silkies but I have also used a few promarkers, to finish the whole thing off I cut a flourish and then made a flower. The flower is made with black paper soaked with diluted silkies and screwed up, it has five layers and these are glued together and finished with a pearl.
I hope you like this one.

DDTIO - Shabby Chic

Over on Frankie's blog Dragon's Dream the TIO challenge is shabby chic, well I'm not so sure of the chic bit but this does look a bit shabby so hopefully it will be ok.
I started with cream card which I lightly coloured with a copic marker in waterlily, I then stamped a crackle background with tattered rose distress ink, it doesn't show in the picture but it's there. I used pumice stone distress ink around the edges and to stamp the two theatre masks, the rest of the stamping is done in another distress ink, rusty nail this time. The lace is coloured with the tattered rose ink and then I remembered I had some pink and brown ribbon so added a bit of that, the flower I made from 160gsm paper coloured with yet more distress ink. I have had the flat back pearls for ages so just thought I should use them too and finally there is just a bit of dazzle dust on the petals of the flower.
CD Sunday Challenge - Looks Like Summer

Over on CD Sunday this week we would like you to use the theme looks like summer as your starting point. As usual you can make anything you like as long there is an element that comes from a cd.
This week I have used the Pamela West cd as there are several images on there that would fit the bill, I love the idea of lying in a hammock with a good book in such beautiful surroundings, I added a border down each side punched with a MS punch and then I stamped out the basket and the dovecot just to add a bit of interest.
Hope you can come over and join us this week, we love coming and looking at your work. Check out the other team members blogs for more inspiration

Bah! Humbug! - Christmas Stockings

The challenge over on Bah! Humbug! this week is christmas stockings, sorry Ann but my sewing skills although ok are on hold at the moment so I did a card instead. I have had this stamp for years and can't remember where I got it from but it has been in a box unused so this is a perfect time to bring it out. A fairly simple card, I have used a backing paper from Season's Greetings cd and the flourish I cut on the cricut, I stamped the merry christmas with versamark and embossed with red, and that is basically it - oh and the image is coloured with promarkers.

Sweet Pea again

This is a card I made for a forum swap, I know my partner has got the card now so I am safe to show you it. The backing paper is printed from a cd that wasn't on general release, I sprayed it with sparkle and shine but because the nozzle got stuck it is a bit on the heavy handed side. I cut the mats on my Cricut and the bottom one I coloured with my silkies to match the dress of the fairy. The flowers were made from scalloped circles which were soaked with watered down silkies and scrumpled up then glued together, I put a sparkly gem in the centre and dabs of glue on the petals which I then dusted with dazzle dust, finally the sentiment is from Sweet Pea Stamps too, I bought a grab bag which had 6 sentiments in for $1.50, I cut this out with one of my nesties but because I wanted a very small border I cut the same size twice and trimmed on the embossing line of the top one and coloured the underneath one with more silkies.
I quite enjoyed doing this one and will be making more flowers this way as they are just a bit different and so easy to do.
Another Sweet Pea card

I am loving these Sweet Pea images and this time I've combined it with a couple of challenges, over on Rainbow Lady's blog the challenge is Lavender and Lace and on the Alphabet blog the letter this week is L and they have chosen lace.
I have coloured the image in with promarkers and just highlighted around the moon with stickles, the backing paper is from a pad I bought from Joanna Sheen and usually just sits in a drawer as I always forget I've got it. The card is coloured with milled lavender distress ink as is the lacy strip and the flourish. I have yet to decide on my greeting so this has to be added later, I've just finished off with some stones for a bit of bling.

Crafty Ann's challenge - shaped easel card

Well I've only had two weeks to do this but here I am at the last minute with my entry for Crafty Ann's fortnightly challenge.
I cut the heart shaped card out on the Cricut as well as the cake and the banner, to be honest I don't use the machine as much as I should and have set myself a challenge to use it more often. I cut the backing paper from a sheet of Basic Grey paper from the Two Scoops range and this one is called aptly enough Cupid's Arrow. I used a bit of distress ink around the base layer in tattered rose and then thought it would be good to use it on the edge of the banner. The little hearts around the top were bought from ebay a while ago to use on some wedding invitations but we had a change of mind so they will get used on other things. To finish the cake off I added a bit of dazzle dust to the edges of the cake and on the two hearts at the top. Not my usual style of card but it does you good to have a play and try something different.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge # 26 Card for a friend

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week it's a special card for a friend, this card is an 8x8 inch and is printed on to silver inkjet film. It is a nightmare to photograph so it isn't shown off to it's best, I have attached velvet ribbon and a tassel and the greeting is also printed onto the same film, I have layered it onto holographic card just to give it some substance as it is very flimsy.

CD Sunday Challenge # 12 - Kind Thoughts

Over on CD Sunday this week we would like you to incorporate some kind thoughts, for this challenge I have made a Christmas card. The quote comes from a booklet I bought a few years ago and then put it away and I couldn't find it, well it has turned up again so I am going to be using it this year for some of my cards, the booklet is cardmakers christmas card quotes from HOTP. My top backing paper I made using tumbled glass distress ink and stamped with a shooting star in broken china which isn't really showing up in this picture, the two snowflakes are cut from the same paper. The larger backing paper is from the Artylicious cd Seasons Greetings, once I had printed this out it was abit too blue to go with the paper I'd made so I used my colour duster to go over it with the tumbled glass ink.
I do hope you can manage to join in with us this week we love to visit your blogs and see your fabulous creations.

Now for something completely different

I haven't been making many cards recently and this is the reason, my friend is having a baby which is due in September so I started this shawl a couple of months ago to give myself plenty of time. I have really enjoyed doing it and as I haven't had a crochet hook in my hands for over 15 years think I've not done too bad a job on this. The shawl is quite large and is done in 4ply, in fact I like it so much I don't want it to go but it will be well cared for so don't really mind.
I hope now to catch up on things I should have been doing and get a lot more crafting done.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge # 25 Less is more

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week the theme is Less is More, well you can't get much less that an embossed piece of card layered onto a piece of paper. I did brayer some blue silkies onto the inside of the embossing folder before I put the card in but it doesn't really show up in the picture. I embossed the greeting in silver and attached to the card with a dinky bulldog clip I found when I went to the Port Sunlight show earlier in the year.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge 24 Father Christmas

The challenge this week on Bah! Humbug! is Father Christmas, now I just couldn't make up my mind what to do after all there are so many images around but in the end I plumped for this one and now can't remember where I got it from, really must get more organised and save things in a properly marked folders.
Anyway I printed him out and then layered him onto a piece of burgundy card which I edged with a gold pen, the backing paper is printed from an Artylicious cd and then both were sprayed with glitter and sparkle in gold. The trim down the side was coloured with wild honey distress ink I think this must be my favourite colour to use at the moment, then I added some gems to add a bit of sparkle.

Ice cream holiday box

My great niece is very excited about her forthcoming holidays and wanted a box to keep her bits and pieces in that she will collect when away. I have used an old washing tablet box and painted it with my lovely new eco paints I then used a crackle stamp and covered the box in wild honey distress ink, I let her chose the things she wanted on the box and she wanted the ice cream cones the we found on the indie art cricut cartridge, she spotted the butterfly on my desk so wanted that on the top, the back has a sand castle on it but it is painted in pink as that is her favourite colour. I found the words once upon a time on another cartridge so we cut that out I then punched the trim and adhered it to the top flap. The cones, words and trim were cut in a pale yellow and inked up with the wild honey ink, when I find my small velcro dots I will fix just inside the lid to hold it shut. She is now one happy bunny but I bet it doesn't last much beyond the holidays but it was fun to do.
CD Sunday - In Full Bloom

Good morning all, I am feeling great today because the sun is shining and things are well in my world. I hope you like flowers (who doesn't?) because our challenge over on CD Sunday is In Full Bloom, now I know that most of us have at least one cd stored somewhere in our craft stash so now is the time to get them out and have a play. I have quite a few and this challenge was quite easy for me but to be able to join us you just need to use anything from a cd so even if you are a stamper you could just print off a bit of backing paper or even an element like I did with those butterflies.
My card this week as you can see is an easel card, I have used an image from Jane Netley Mayhew cd 2, I then used a MS punch to do the lacy trim, this was just punched out of plain white paper but I used my colour dusters and antique linen distress ink to take the starkness from it I used the same ink on the greeting to bring it all together. I used the ribbon to trim the centre of the lace strips and then decided to add it to the sides of the card, the butterflies are from a sheet on the same cd and although it doesn't really show the wings are not flat to the page but raised a little with pinflair glue. I hope you will join us this week and also go and have a look at the other design team's cards they make some beautiful things.

Another Christmas card

Over on Bah! Humbug! this week we have been invited to a childs christmas so how could I refuse?
I love easel cards and thought I'd do one for this challenge, the tree is a stamp from Creative Expressions as are the parcels, the little boy is a digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil, I fell in love with this stamp when I first saw it and used it for a new baby card but I think it works well for a christmas card too. I have coloured the images with both promarkers and copics, I am not a great lover of holographic card but think you can get away with it for christmas cards so have used it here to add a bit of bling.
I am also entering this card into the Winter Wonderland challenge which this week is a festive tree.

CD Sunday Challenge No.9 Have a Heart

Well it's back to sunday, these weeks are flying by but it's another challenge from us at CD Sunday . This week we want you to have a heart, you can do anything you like and even if you just use a piece of backing paper from a cd it will qualify so I do hope you join us this week.
My card is made with a Penny Black stamp and the backing paper comes from Joanna Sheen's Precious Petals cd, if you haven't used any of Joanna's cd's please do go and have a look as there is a great range and something for everyone. The image is coloured with Pro Markers and I've cut a couple of hearts with the Cuttlebug and put them through in the script embossing folder.

Passion for Promarkers challenge - Books

This week the Passion for Promarkers challenge is all about books, I have taken this digi image
and coloured with some of my promarkers and as I didn't have any colour scheme in mind when I chose the image I just grabbed a handful and took it from there. The backing papers have been subdued with distress inks as they were a bit bright for what I decided to do, I printed a page out with an extract from a fairy story and used more distress inks to age it. I used one of my MS punches to give me a border and finished off with a few flora doodles.
CD Sunday Challenge No.8 Girl Power

Over on CD Sunday this week we want you to do something with the theme Girl Power, it doesn't have to be a card just whatever you fancy but I do hope you join in with us.
This week I couldn't make up my mind what to do so in the end I plumped for this girl with attitude, I can't remember where she came from but there are several in the set. My bit from a cd is the backing paper and I was surprised to find it on Joanna Sheen's Dancing with Shadows, I was using the cd for another challenge and remembered that there was an extra bit of backing papers and as soon as I saw this I thought it fitted really well. The card is cut with a large nestie but not all the way around I missed one edge off so it was a shaped card, I then cut another whole piece and folded the original as you would an easel card and attached that to the front.

CD Sunday Challenge No.7 Feathered Friends

This week on CD Sunday we would like you to join us in creating something with the theme Feathered Friends. This week I've used a cd which came free on the Do Crafts Creativity magazine, quite often we get freebies and have a quick look but never use them so I decided that I would make something this time and this is the result. I have used aqua coloured gems to highlight both the birds and also some of the ends of the flowers.
I hope you like my effort and it inspires you to pop over and join in with us this week.
